Heitor Villa-Lobos

Heitor Villa-Lobos became known as a revolutionary who caused a break with academic music in Brazil. His travels through the interior of the country influenced his compositions. Among them are: "the evening", "Evocation", "Miudinho", "paddlers of San Francisco", "Love Song," "Sentimental Melody", "Gang," "Shango", "Bachianas Brasileiras "" The Song of Uirapuru "," Little Train Grit. In 1903, Villa-Lobos finished the basic studies in the Monastery of St. Benedict. I used to join the groups of crying, playing guitar at parties and serenades. He met famous musicians such as Catullus Passion Cearense, Ernesto Nazareth, Anacleto de Medeiros and João Pernambuco.

In 1915, Villa-Lobos conducted the first concert with his compositions. Critics considered his concerts too modern. But as it stood at the Rio and Sao Paulo, gained notoriety.
In 1919, he performed in Buenos Aires, with the String Quartet No 2. The week of Modern Art in 1922, agreed to join the three shows at Municpal Theatre of São Paulo, showing, among other works, "features African Dance" and "Impressions of worldly life."
On June 30, 1923, Villa-Lobos traveled to Paris funded by friends and siblings Guinle. With the support of pianist Arthur Rubinstein and soprano Vera Janacópulus, Villa-Lobos was presented to the Parisian artistic milieu and their presentations were a success.
He returned to Brazil in late 1924. In 1927, he returned to Paris with his wife Lucilia Guimarães, to make new concerts and open negotiations with the publisher Max Eschig. Three years later, he returned to Brazil to perform a concert in Sao Paulo. It turned out to present his plan to the Music Education Department of Education of the State of Sao Paulo.
In 1931, the teacher organized a concentration Orfeon called "Civic Exhortation", with 12,000 voices. After two years took over the Superintendency of Artistic and Musical Education. Villa-Lobos met Pixinguinha, Donga, John of Bahia, Top Hat and others who made presentations under his baton and the collection of albums recorded by Columbia Records.
In 1944/45, Villa-Lobos traveled to the United States to govern the orchestras of Boston and New York, where he was honored. In 1945 he founded the Brazilian Academy of Music. Two years before his death, the teacher wrote "Forest of the Amazon" for the soundtrack of a movie from Metro Goldwyn Mayer. Concerts held in Rome, Lisbon, Paris, Israel, and mark a significant presence in Latin American music scene.
Almost living in the U.S. between 1957 and 1959, Villa-Lobos returned to Brazil for the anniversary celebrations of the Teatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro. With failing health, was admitted for treatment and died in November 1959.

Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel

From 1926 to 1950, the American Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel British formed the most famous movie comedy duo: Laurel and Hardy. Oliver Norvell Hardy Jr., age 8, was already a professional singer. Arthur Stanley Jefferson, whose father was an actor, director, producer, writer and entrepreneur theatrical debut at age 16, in Glasgow (Scotland) until 1910 and earned his living as a stage actor in England, playing dramas and comedies. That year, he joined the famous Fred Karno company, acting as a substitute for Charles Chaplin's first tour group in the United States.
In the second tour, in 1912, Stan was in the United States acting in short film comedies and plays, writing screenplays and directing some of his movies. Stan Laurel took the pseudonym because his real name, Stanley Jefferson, was thirteen different letters, and he believed he could give chance.
In 1926, director Leo McCarey, Hal Roach Studios, Stan and Oliver persuaded to work together and held in the following year thirteen successful comedies.
With a dry wit and visual, in 1929 the duo went smoothly in the talkies. In 1940, the company ended with Hal Roach and worked for major studios such as Fox and Metro.
They stopped filming in 1945 and did two tours of England with a show. In 1950, they returned to the screen in a joint Franco-Italian production called Atoll K (released in America as "Crusoeland Robinson," and later reissued as "Utopia"). In Brazil, had two titles: "The Tricksters of Heaven" and "The Island of the Mess." However, without success.
At that time, Oliver was living with his third wife, Virginia Lucille Jones, whom he married in 1940, and Laura was in her sixth marriage, to Ida Raphael Kitaev, who accompanied him from 1946 until his death.Oliver died on August 7, 1957, months after a heart attack. His ashes were buried in Hollywood.
Stan vowed never to appear on the screen, limiting himself to writing texts, scripts and skits to death on February 23, 1965. Together, they made 99 films.

Carmen Miranda

Carmen Miranda (1909-1955) was a Brazilian singer and actress of Portuguese origin, was born on February 9, 1909 and died on August 5, 1955.

Charles Chaplin

Charles Chaplin was an English actor and filmmaker.

He was born on April 6, 1889 and died on December 25, 1977. One of the greatest comedians of cinema. Charles Spencer Chaplin was born in London. Son of actors, is no father early and spends his childhood in orphanages. In 1908 employed in music halls and is popular as a mimic.
